Submissions for UWA Publishing’s new award – the Dorothy Hewett Award for an Unpublished Manuscript – are closing soon.
The Award aims to support literary talent in and related to Western Australia. The Award also celebrates Dorothy Hewett’s life, achievements and radical writing through which she used to disrupt ideas of normalcy and provide a voice for those marginalised by 20th century Australian culture.
Entry is open to all writers who have completed manuscripts in fiction, narrative nonfiction or poetry and are seeking publication.
This is a wonderful opportunity for writers to have their work read by a great panel of judges including national award-winning (and Westerly‘s own) Dr. Lucy Dougan. The winner of the Award will receive a cash prize, courtesy of Copyright Agency Limited, as well as be offered a publishing contract with UWA Publishing.
For more information and to enter, see the UWA Publishing website, at: http://uwap.uwa.edu.au/pages/the-dorothy-hewett-award-for-an-unpublished-manuscript
Hi,
Is there a 2017 award competition scheduled – and what are the time lines for entries and submission guidelines?
Many thanks,
Nick.
Hi Nick,
The Dorothy Hewett Award is actually run by UWA Publishing, not by us. I don’t think they have released specific information regarding the 2017 competition yet, but general information can be found here:

For further information it would be best to contact UWA Publishing directly.
All the best,
Westerly
