To No Avail
by Rob Wallis
Mario Stefani: Loneliness is not being alone; it’s loving others to no avail.
The glass pinning your note
down on the kitchen table
is a knife thrust through
the paper-thin layer of my
trust, the words like crackling
static on a faulty line
and all I decipher, or rather
intuit is the horror story
about finding somebody else.
