Elizabeth Jolley
This article has been published from our archive. It first appeared in Westerly 33.2 (June 1988), a themed issue concerning ‘Imaging Western Australia’. Jolley responds to this with an engaging piece about the survivability of the unique, diverse environment of Western Australia as it is demolished in favour of a city ‘not at peace’ with its surroundings.
We’re republishing now to celebrate Easter and we wish all our readers and subscribers a safe and happy holidays. We hope to see you all soon after the break!
A downloadable pdf of Jolley’s article is available here. The rest of our archive, up to and including our issues from 2013, are free to download here.
