In 2016, Westerly Magazine will be introducing a new series of online publications, special issues with specific focuses aiming to challenge, engage and delight. Released here on our website, these issues will come out as both eBooks and pdfs for free access and download. We hope they will be something that everyone can enjoy, and a showcase for what Westerly offers as a publication.
The first of these issues will be a collection of essays based on the University of Western Australia’s Day of Ideas 2015, on the flaneur. (For more information on the Day of Ideas October 2015, visit: http://ow.ly/T3B0Y. Tickets to attend are still available!) The second will be a special issue of fresh writing, called Westerly: New Creative.
These special issues will be separate from our bi-annual print publication and are designed to showcase new, dynamic and exciting criticism and creative writing that is emerging from local events or writing programs.
Westerly: New Creative presents a great opportunity for Western Australian emerging and early-career writers to have their work published in a special issue focusing on upcoming talent across the state.
Writers will now have the opportunity to submit an unpublished fiction, creative nonfiction or poetry manuscript for the 2016 special issue.
